Have you ever lost your phone? In fact, your cherished device for that matter? And how did you feel about the uncertain incident? Losing your phone is a stressful experience and a bad day in your life. Most often it happens just in the blink of an eye. Maybe you kept it in one of the corners in your room or you probably swept it under your carpet and it’s on silent mode and you can’t locate it. Or better still, it can be stolen or lost. Regardless of how your phone goes missing, it remains a painful experience for your day.

But it doesn’t always have to be so because there are tools built into every Android phone that help us to be able to track a lost phone from anywhere so that we can have it back OK.

So, if your phone goes missing don’t panic! Take a good breath and relax and follow through these steps to locate your phone and have it back. But first of all, you need to take some time to set up your android phone before we continue.

Before you can track your phone when it is missing tool would have been checked and set up on your android device. Google Find My Device must be turned on earlier before your phone got missing.

Google find my Device is a service provided by Google and it is free and built into every android phone. This service helps us to remotely lock our phone, leave a message and our number on the lock screen or erase all data on the phone.

Anytime you sign into an android device Find my Device is automatically turned on. This is the tool you will use to track your phone should your phone goes missing.

You can check to make sure Find my Device remains turned on through the settings app on your android phone.

Go to phone settings>security &location >Find my Device OR in case your phone doesn’t have Security & Location option in phone settings you can access Find My Device through Settings>Google>Security>Find my Device. Slash the circle right to put Find My Device on.

Below it, there are three ways in which you can use this tool to track your lost device but whichever one you’ll need to sign in with the google account associated with your lost device. You can visit the web android.com/find or install the app on your android phone from the play store or just search Find My Device on your browser then sign in with your account to track your device.

In the following few steps, I will clearly use the search console to demonstrate how you could track your missing device. But before we set the ball rolling, we must take some little steps to ensure that the following requirements are set and working before we can use this tool to track your lost phone?

Your phone location must be turned on, the missing phone must have internet connectivity or data must be turned on and the phone must not off before find my device can work.

Locate the search bar of your browser, type Google Find My Device, and hit enter to bring the search results. Select the tool from the search results.
