Fix windows 10 automatically skips to 10 home during clean installation

When you’re windows 10 lover and you want to always be able to install any edition of windows 10 during your clean installation but have a problem with this, then here is the best fix to it.

During the clean installation, windows does not open to the screen for you to make your choice of the edition that you want. But instead, it skips this screen shown bellow and automatically installs the edition ‘windows 10 Home’ on your machine.

 

You rather see this screen bellow in place of the options given in the screen above.

 

Now let’s dive straight into it and fix it.

This problem is associated with most machines that came preinstall with windows 10 and OEM license and not any other edition but the ‘Home Edition’. Before you can be any to install any other edition of windows 10 on your pc then you will have to bypass the bios system of your PC.

So let’s see how we can create a bootable USB drive and use it to bypass the bios system so that you can have any edition on your machine. If you don’t have a bootable drive, just go ahead and create one using Rufus, it is free.  If you’ve already created a bootable drive then let’s start with it right away.

Follow the steps bellow:

1.       Open Nod pad on your PC. Type in the following text as shown on the screen bellow.

 [channel]

Retail

 

 

Click on file and name this text document as “ei.cfg” and select document type as ‘All files’ as shown below.

 

Click save and note its location. Now lets move to step 2

Open your installation media to open the files as shown below

 

Now go back and copy the text file you created with Notepad to your clipboard. In your installation media shown above, click on the x64 folder to open it.

Locate the source folder inside the x64 folder and click on it to open it.

Right click any empty space in the source folder when it opens and past the “ei.cfg” file you copied to your clipboard.

Now repeat the same steps with the x86 folder in your installation media. After that exit your window, you’re done!

Now use your bootable drive and go ahead to install your windows and you will now have the screen option to select your best edition of windows you want to install.
