Sometimes for what reason
you want to reveal the password(s) of the Wi-Fi networks or mobile Hotspots
that are connected to your laptop or pc but it almost seems impossible to you
to have the passwords show on your PC.
If that’s what you’re
looking for, to be able to know the password of the Wi-Fi network or mobile Hotspot that is connected to your laptop then let’s dig straight into that.
In this short article
we’re going to look at two effective methods that you can use to get the
password of any Wi-Fi network or mobile Hostpot that is connected to your
laptop or computer. So let’s get started with the first method right away.
The first method makes use
of the command prompt and we’re going to type only two commands away to get the
password of the Wi-Fi network revealed.
First open the command
prompt. If you don’t know where to find the command prompt just type cmd on
your Windows search.
Type in or copy and paste
this command in your command prompt and hit the Enter Key on your keyboard.
=== netsh wlan show profiles ====
Note: Copy excluding the
equal signs
This command will show the Wi-Fi networks connected to your PC. This include all the networks that are preciously and currently connected to your PC.
Now that you have all the
Wi-Fi networks shown on the command prompt we will move to the next step to
reveal the password of any of them.
Type in or copy and paste
the second command. Type the Wi-Fi name that you want to show the password.
Don’t commit a typo with the Wi-Fi name.
Type in the Wi-Fi name inside the double quote (replace the ENTER
NETWORK NAME HERE with your Wi-Fi name).
=== netsh wlan show
profile name = "ENTER NETWORK NAME HERE" key=clear | find "Key
Content" ===
For example,
netsh wlan show profile
name = "SPARK" key=clear | find "Key Content" where SPARK is my Wi-Fi name connected to my
laptop.
Hit the Enter Key when
you’re done. You will have the Wi-Fi
password shown in the command prompt like this.
The key content is the
Wi-Fi password.
This method will work for
you but if you still want to try an alternative method then let’s move to the
second method.
But before we start this
method I want to remind you that this method can only be used to find the
password of the Wi-Fi networks that are currently connected to your PC or are
active.
Open the settings app on
your PC and click on Network and internet at the left panel.
Scroll to the bottom and
click on advance network settings.
Scroll down once again to
the bottom and under related settings click on ‘more network adaptor options’.
You should see the
available Wi-Fi networks that are connected to your PC. Right click on the
Wi-Fi network that you want to show the password and select ‘status’.
Click on wireless properties and click on
security at the top.
Finally check the box to
show Wi-Fi password. And that’s it! You should have the Wi-Fi password shown to
you just like mind here.
