a penny.

Alright let’s dig right into the top 5 best free photo
editing software.
The first on the list of the best free image editing applications is called gimp.
It is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image manipulation (retouching) and image editing, free-form drawing, transcoding between different image file formats, and more specialized tasks. This software is pretty much an equivalent to adobe photoshop. You can download it at gimp.org or following the download link given in the description down below. Mostly, what you can do on photoshop, equivalently, you can do it on Gimp. In fact, Gimp is photoshop’s rival and sometimes you wonder whether it is free.
Yes, it's completely free and it's also open source. Once
done downloading, you can start editing your image first going to the file menu
and then clicking on new or open alternatively. You could also drag and drop a
photo into the app to start editing as well.
Once you have an
image open there you can apply a whole lot features to the image.
Gimp has a whole lot of functionalities just like in
Photoshop that we can’t finished talking about today. To me, it is amazingly
the best open-source photo editor so far. The only challenge about gimp is
that, it has a steep learning curve and may require you some time to master it
features.
The second-best free photo editing software is called Irfan. Dowload IrfanView
It is named after the creator Irfan.
You can download it
at their website and the link is also included in the description down below
this video. On the home page, you can choose which version you want to download.
You can also download additional plugins and these will allow you to open
additional file types and access to additional image effects.
Once you’re done downloading,
you'll see the software, at first glance it might look a little bit outmoded
and also pretty basic but don't let that deceive you there's actually a lot of
power under the hood. To edit an image, you
can simply drag and drop an image and then drop it on the app. Once you drop an
image into irfan view you can go up to the edit menu and you can do things like
insert text on top of the image. You could also insert an overlay or a
watermark to an image. When you click the image menu, you have all the standard
controls like being able to rotate an image, you could flip it and here you can
even add a border or a frame to your image.
More features to talk
about, you can add borders, apply color corrections, you could auto adjust
colors, you could remove red eye and there are a whole bunch of different
effects that you can apply to your photos. There's even an effects browser that
let you look at what the effect will do to your image so there are a lot of fun
ones that you can experiment with along with simply manipulating your photo. You
can also set up a photo slideshow and here, you have full control over what
your slideshow looks like and you can even have music play along with your
slideshow. On the file menu, there is batch conversion feature and this allows
you to batch rename or batch convert an image file to a different file type.
This is good if you have a lot of images you’re working on the app.
Next on the list we have adobe photoshop express.
You can download this for free through the Microsoft
store. Simply search for adobe photoshop express and then you can install the
app. You have most common editing to enhance your photos.
There are a lot of
filters you can apply to your photos. You can rotate and crop. You could also
remove blemishes, remove red eye and add borders to your photos. Adobe
photoshop express is a fairly well-made app and it's pretty easy to use. It's
simple and you can make your photos look a lot better.
Number 4 free photo
editing software is called dark table app and this is open source and also free
and this offers a tremendous amount of power where you can basically change any
aspect of your photo. To download this app head over to the website
darktable.org. it's also in the
description of this video. Darktable is fully color managed, supporting
automatic display profile detection on most systems, including built-in ICC
profile support for sRGB, Adobe RGB, XYZ and linear RGB color spaces.
Darktable is a Cross platform app, it runs on Linux, Mac OS
X / macports, BSD, Windows and Solaris 11 / GNOME.
Filtering and sorting: search your image collections by
tags, image rating (stars), color labels and many more, use flexible database
queries on all metadata of your images.
Image formats: darktable can import a variety of standard,
raw and high dynamic range image formats (e.g. JPEG, CR2, NEF, HDR, PFM, RAF …
).
You can view different photos and apply different star
ratings to your photos. You could also set various tags and add descriptions to
your photos
You could adjust the white
balance, add exposure and many more filters to your photos. All the way, dark
table is an excellent option if you want full control over what your photos
look like but the one downside especially compared to some of the other apps,
we looked at is the complexity. It is quite a bit higher and there is a
somewhat a steep learning curve that requires your time and patience to master
its features.
And finally, we have raw therapy. Download raw therapy
This app is quite similar to dark table
where it gives you full control over what your image looks like
Aside the many
features you can apply to your photos, you could apply different star ratings
to your photos as well similar to dark table app. It also has a steep learning
curve and may take you some time to master it.
Alright, go ahead and try any of these and let me know in
the commends section below which one of them is good for you.
